Zerin

Pronunciation: ZAR-EN
Gender: Male
Home: Nation: ThalevirCendomvitaVidora

Zerin appears briefly, but with enough clarity to be remembered. Raised in a small village in southern Vidora, he grew up with a practical understanding of work, scarcity, and the value of cooperation. Village life taught him how to endure rather than how to stand out, and that habit followed him into adulthood. He learned to listen, to follow instruction, and to carry his share without complaint.

By the time he joins Maeryn’s bandit crew, Zerin has already adapted to a harder world. He is capable, steady, and unremarkable in the way that marks reliability rather than weakness. When Maeryn loans him to Bomal’s team within Elgyon’s squad, he accepts the assignment without hesitation. He understands the terms. He understands the risk. For him, work is work, regardless of whose banner he serves under.

During the raid on the village, Zerin dies doing exactly what he was asked to do. There is no flourish to his end and no grand final act. His death is sudden, functional, and costly, felt more sharply by those who knew him than by the cause he served. It leaves a gap in the line rather than a story to be told loudly.

Zerin’s first impression is therefore defined by absence. A man shaped by ordinary beginnings, absorbed into larger conflicts, and lost without ceremony. His life reminds those who survive him that not every death belongs to a leader or a legend. Some belong to men whose only distinction was that they showed up, did the work, and paid the price when violence reached them first.
