Elowen

Elowen is a kingdom on the continent of Cendomvita. It lies along the southern coast, just west of Vidora. The capital city, Elmsdover, stands at the mouth of the Encalm River. Most of Elowen consists of low, fertile plains. These plains stretch inland beneath wide, open skies.

The Deep River forms Elowen’s eastern border. It begins at Kosak Falls. The river cuts through a deep canyon before reaching Lake Irreamptum. From the lake, it joins the Elowen River along the Vidoran Escarpment. Together, the rivers form a wide delta. Reeds cover the wetlands. The air smells strongly of peat.

The Emerald River marks the western border with Ognenstrof. Land near the river rises into low foothills. Farmers build on higher ground. Seasonal floods often overtake the lowlands. Northern Elowen reaches into the Central Mountains and borders Rusmaria. Villages here face cold winds and rocky soil. Grazing herds support local life.

Trade routes cross Elowen from north to south. One route follows the Elowen River into the northern trade network. Another runs inland from Elmsdover along the Encalm River. Caravans travel these roads during the trading seasons. They carry steady but modest wealth. Eslading serves as Elowen’s primary Free Trade Zone. It links the kingdom with Rusmaria and Vidora.

Elowen relies on agriculture. Farmers grow grains, exotic plants, and cultivated fungi. Rich black soil supports these crops. Coastal rains fall often. In pre-industrial Cendomvita, fresh food travels poorly. Durable grains dominate Elowen’s exports. Food security strengthens the kingdom. It also exposes risk.

Elowen’s monarchs rule from a distance. They leave daily governance to advisors and courtiers. Many rulers pursue indulgence over oversight. As the crown withdraws, power shifts elsewhere. Those who understand influence and access guide the kingdom’s direction.
