Introduction to the Archival Keys

To navigate these archives is to understand the language of the surveyor. Each record in this collection is marked with specific Archival Keys. These insignia denote the nature of every inquiry, ranging from the grounded physics of our soil to the shifting psychological realism of those who walk it.

Insignia of Research

I did not choose these Archival Keys lightly. Essentially, they represent the six pillars of human experience: the literal soil of our borders and the internal architecture of our choices. To understand the icon is to understand the intent of the record. Therefore, these symbols serve as your primary guide through the history of Thalevir.

Archival Keys | Quill & Book (Personas): Lives of Thalevir Icon

Quill & Book (Personas): As one of the core keys, this symbol represents the Lives of Thalevir. It highlights the journals and psychological journeys of those who shaped history.

Archival Keys | Maze & Question (Dilemmas): The Human Choice icon inviting the reader to place him/herself in the situation or question being posed.

Maze & Question (Dilemmas): This entry in the archive signifies The Human Choice. It marks moral crossroads where characters—and often the readers themselves—must decide who they are without divine guidance.

Archival Keys | Chest & Scrolls (Artifacts): Personal Effects icon representing insights from the physical artifacts left behind by those whose stories I share

Chest & Scrolls (Artifacts): This category of the keys focuses on Personal Effects. Specifically, it marks records containing the letters and physical remnants left behind by the people of the past.

Archival Keys | Hourglass: Chronological Evolution representing world building, societal drifts, and timelines

Hourglass (Chronological Evolution): The Hourglass tracks the Chronological Evolution of the world. Because Thalevir lacks magic or prophecy, these keys focus strictly on the march of human consequence.

Archival Keys | Atlas & Glass (Topography): Homes & Borders icon exploring the connection between the peoples, their lands, and their lives.

Atlas & Glass (Topography): Within the system of Archival Keys, this symbol marks Homes & Borders. It explores the intimate connection between the land people inhabit and the lives they lead.

Archival Keys | Astrolabe & Scroll (Comparisons): Familiar Echoes icon representing comparison between Earth and what is being shared

Astrolabe & Scroll (Comparisons): Furthermore, these keys highlight Familiar Echoes. They help the researcher recognize the same human struggles in Thalevir that exist in our own Earth’s history.

Archival Keys | Oil Lamp (Inquiry): Uncovering the Truth icon inviting the reader to search for the hidden motives and lost stories within the records

Oil Lamp (Inquiry): Finally, the Oil Lamp serves as one of the most interactive Archival Keys. It represents Uncovering the Truth and invites you to join the search for the hidden motivations buried deep within the records.
