Yisea is the only Cendomvitan nation that calls itself an empire. Its rulers insist on the title, though other monarchs treat it with quiet amusement. The realm lies between Maghrabi to the west and Rusmaria to the east. To the south, the Central Mountains cover nearly a third of Yisea’s land. These peaks rise from the shores of Lake Mahyim and descend into desert and low foothills. Forested hills appear farther east. To the north, Seagull Bay opens into the Northern Ocean. White cliffs line the coast, and strong winds make travel dangerous.
The Valenrun River flows from the southern highlands. It cuts through open grasslands and reaches the sea. The river widens only near its mouth. Caerwyn stands there as Yisea’s capital.
Yisea’s strength comes from herds and ranches rather than territory. Horse breeding shapes its culture and economy. As a result, Yisea fields the finest cavalry in Cendomvita. Unlike Rusmaria, the empire has a long history of conflict without expansion. Some observers claim its rulers seek war out of pride or restlessness. Others believe Yisea offers its strength wherever disruption promises attention. Border raids and distant uprisings alike draw its interest.
Much of Yisea remains sparsely populated. Desert dominates the northwest, and the interior lacks dense settlement. Because of this, the empire maintains only one major road. The Northern Trade Route follows the coast and connects key ports. Control depends on speed and movement rather than administration. Cavalry fills the space that governance does not.
Fishing thrives along Seagull Bay. Cold waters provide steady harvests beneath towering cliffs. Yisea endures through force of motion rather than reach of rule.
